Chia-Wei Kuo’s website
Welcome! I am Chia-Wei Kuo, a Senior Research and Development Scientist at Heraeus Quartz North America LLC, Buford, GA, USA. I have a Ph.D. degree from the Mechanical Engineering Department at The University of Wisconsin - Madison (with a minor in Math). I was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and a member of the Phi Tau Phi Honor Society.
My Ph.D. research focuses on developing new two-phase flow C++ solvers/models for performing high-fidelity spray simulations. Two of my Ph.D. research projects are published in the preeminent fluid dynamics journal Physics of Fluids and selected as Editor’s Pick papers.
Before pursuing the Ph.D. degree, I spent three years working in Taiwan as a full-time employee in industry and academia. In industry, I worked on the mechanical design of ventilation fans, while in academia, I focused on solar thermal research.
My research works are published in the following scientific journals:
- Physics of Fluids
- International Journal of Multiphase Flow
- International Journal of Engine Research
- Renewable Energy
- Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers
- Procedia Engineering
- Energy Procedia
I also owned a patent on improving the heat dissipation performance of Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled (TEFC) motors.
